"Can't wait to go again" Edinburgh by ChrisnJan

We had a great time here, lots to see and do, especially in August. We stayed in Leith at The Holiday Inn Waterfront Hotel. Leith is the port of Edinburgh, about 2 miles from the city centre and home to the Royal Yacht Britannia, unfortunatley we never found time to go aboard. Leith is currently the subject of an ongoing redevelopment program and now has some very trendy restaurants and bars in waterside settings. Getting to the city centre was easy, for £2.30 you can buy a day ticket for unlimited travel on Lothian buses.

The Military Tattoo was a great night out and a must see for anybody visiting Edinburgh in August. The show was quite spectacular, although the seating was a bit cramped. Trying to find somewhere to eat close by, just before a show can be a tedious task, everywhere seems to be already full or they have just closed the kitchen.

Street performers at The Fringe

It would be worth a visit to Edinburgh just to witness The Fringe alone. This festival was responsible for us not having time to explore places like Leith and other outlying areas of the city, there is just so much going on with a diversity of shows and performers at every turn.
