A little about me.

by ChrisnJan - last update: Feb 4, 2008

Us

Jan and I - Valletta
This is me with Jan, my beloved other half. We love concerts, shows, eating out and travel. We also enjoy walks in the countryside; visiting historic property’s and gardens. We enjoy cruises, so far we have managed three, (four if you include The Nile), The Mediterranean, The Caribbean and The Ionian Sea including Istanbul. Top of our wishlist for future holidays are cruises around The Baltics and also The Far East. Although we have decided that for the next year or so we are going to stay closer to home and take the oppotunity to explore more of our own beautiful country. This will also allow us to take George, our wonderful doggie, on holiday with us.

George

This is George, he is a retired racing greyhound. We welcomed him into our home in July 2006 and have had no reason to doubt our decision to home him. We love him as part of our family, and it feels like he has been with us for years.
We got him from the Retired Greyhound Trust kennels at Croftview in Kent. The RGT have kennel's all over the UK. Please check out their website here. If there is anyone out there thinking about getting a dog, please consider homing an ex-sprinter. Greyhounds are wonderful, affectionate creatures who demand little in return for the joy they bring to their owners.

Concerts

We are huge music fans and love going to concerts as often as we can. Some of our favorite gigs from recent years include:-
The Rolling Stones + The Charlatans - Hampden Park 2006
The Who + Razorlight + The Zutons - Hyde Park 2006
Texas - Brighton Centre 2006
Eric Clapton - Royal Albert Hall 2006
War of The Worlds - Bournemouth 2006
REM + Feeler - Hyde Park 2005
Keane - Albert Hall 2005
We also saw Keane at The Brighton Centre in 2006, they were brilliant.
U2 - Twickenham 2005
Coldplay + Richard Ashcroft - Earls court 2005
Also Paul McCartney, Sting, Robbie Williams and Paul Weller on numerous occasions.

One of the real Highlights of my life was the long weekend Jan and I spent at The Isle of Wight Festival in 2004. Headlining were Stereophonics on Friday, The Who on Saturday and David Bowie on Sunday. Other bands appearing included Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, The Charlatans and Groove Armada. The mixture of different people of all ages from all walks of life coming together to enjoy this special weekend created an amazing atmosphere that I will recall with great fondness for the rest of my years.
One day I will get around to writing a page dedicated to this event.

In August 2007 we saw Prince in London, my first ever visit to the O2 Arena. The gig was terrific but even more impressive was the venue, I can't wait to see something else here, a great time was had by all. Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera so no pix this time.

The Theatre

We have not been to many shows lately, which is a bit of a shame as we enjoy them so much. The last show we saw was "Wicked", four of us went, four of us came away disappointed. We love musicals but the non-stop show songs being belted out at full voice one after the other was just too much to bare, I won't be recommending this one I'm afraid.
My favorite shows include "My Fair Lady", "Mamma Mia", "Anything Goes", "Chicago", and "The Rat Pack". "Blood Brothers" is another one that I would recommend highly.

Jan has recently (January 2008) been to see Sound of Music and has given it a thumbs up. She went with her mum, sisters and neices, (girlie day out), and they all had a good time.

Some Good Advice

When you are in deep trouble say nothing, and try to look like you know what you're doing
