A beautiful jewel south of Britanny

Not too wild, but can be. Not too wet, because of a micro climate, a bit too busy in summer, but if you like animation... Well it is a fantastic place for families, for walkers, for beach and resting, for a romantic holiday... I'm not keen on sport but there are plenty of options there...
What else can we want? Sea food restaurants and creperies, luxury spa or camping, loads of places to rent (we go to a gite in Le Palais).
It is big enough to have everything, but it is small enough to feel the isolation from the continent, out of the main stream holiday places.

Le Palais

This is the main harbour and town, 2500 inhabitants usually, 12 times more in the summer months. Still, it keeps its character of big village, and the people are friendly. A pity there are so many cars, though, even if it is difficult to get yours there (see tip on transportation).
This is where you will find all the commodities, and the main touristic information and activity providers.
Go to the Office du Tourisme near the ferry wharf or try first their site Belle-Ile
Don't forget to visit the Citadelle Vauban, a superb fortress dominating and surrounding the town (tip)
