“India is the cradle of the human race, the birth place of the human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and the most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only”. –
I think all Indians ave only one dream home;along the beaches of Mumbai or the other moutain side!!!!....
its a 24x7 crowded place , multi- cultural, hot and humid, buzzing and rushing all the time...........
its just a matter of seconds before you can see the tall and the jazziest of business buildings on one side and the next glimpse the largest slum of Asia!!!
Very cheerful and helpful people.....they can take a very good guess at any language u are speaking bcoz we are all multi lingual
If you are ever travelling to Mumbai, you definately must stay in South Mumbai( The real Bombay), the elephanta caves and the Gateway of India!!!
But why just these typical sight seeing go out of your way to see the adventures of Mumbai, the Bollywood film indusrty, the crowded malls and theatres, treks, adventure sports, private parties, traditions........
the cultural dramas and music, discotheques and pubs, the festivals and clothes. If you are ready to take some risk and like dangerous adventure, try travel in the local trains of Mumbai.... in a compartment capacity of 50 persons 200 people travel per minute!!! we all do it everyday...some in saris( the cultural 9 yards dress which is drapped around women)... and it is still as intact when they walk into their offices!!
the local business in Mumbai.........the panwallas ( indian leafy digestives), dabbawallas( lunch deliverry to offices) and dhobhis( clothes washers)!!!!
In Mumbai I am associated with a travel , event and entertainment company...... we make travel shows and movies and manage events....
hence we know every part of Mumbai and its outskirts...
You must visit India, esp Mumbai....
This is an Indian festival in Indian state of Madhya Pradesh- Bhopal
This colourful festival of the Bhils and Bhilalas, particularly in the district of West Nimar and Jhabua, is actually in the nature of a mass svayamvara, a marriage market, usually held on the various market days falling before the Holi festival in March. As the name of the festival indicates, (bhag, to run), after choosing their partners, the young people elope and are subsequently accepted as husband and wife by society through predetermined customs. It is not always that boys and girls intending to marry each other meet in the festival for the first time. In a large number of cases the alliance is already made between the two, the festival providing the institutionalised framework for announcing the alliance publically. The tradition is that the boy applies gulal, red powder, on the face of the girl whom he selects as his wife. The girl, if willing, also applies gulal on the boy's face. This may not happen immediately but the boy may pursue her and succeed eventually.
Earlier, the Bhagoria haat was also the place for settling old disputes; open invitations were sent to enemies for a fight in the haat. Bloody battles used to be quite common in the past but today police and administration do not allow people to go to the haat armed.
The Bhagoria haat also coincides with the completion of harvesting, adding to it the dimension of being an agricultural festival as well. If the crops have been good, the festival assumes an additional air of gaiety.
In the life of the Bhils and Bhilalas, Bhagoria is not merely one festival but in fact a series of fairs held one by one at various villages on their specific market days, commencing eight days before Holi.
Gwalior - a historical city, known for its people's valor - is located on the periphery of Madhya Pradesh State.
Massive Gwalior Fort, popularly called Gibraltar of India overlooks the city. The great Mughal Emperor Babur presumably described it as, "The pearl in the necklace of the forts of Hind". In the east of the city are two magnificent examples of early Mughal architecture. One is mausoleum of, 16th century Sufi saint Ghous Mohammed, and another is tomb of Mian Tansen, a great singer and one of the 'Nine Jewels' of Emperor Akbar's court.
Close to the heart of the city is splendid Jai Vilas Palace, patterned on the style of the 'Palais de Versailles' in France. This palace combines the Tuscan, Italian and Corinthian styles of architecture. One can also visit Shivpuri, where the Madhav National Wildlife Park is located.
Rich in cultural heritage and architectural marvels, Gwalior has the added advantage of it's proximity to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal, Khajuraho, the city of great temples and Delhi, the national capital. Regular flights connect Gwalior to Delhi and Indore. It is also well connected, by road and train, with all the major cities of India.
