Elsewhere in Samar, Sohoton Natural Bridge National Park is composed of natural stone bridges, caves, subterranean rivers, waterfalls, limestone formations, forest, and exotic flora and fauna.
It is best accessed from Basey which is best known for its 17th Century church. Balangiga was the site where 44 American soldiers died in a conflict with Filipino Revolutionaries in 1901. In retaliation, the bells of the town were taken by the Americans and are yet to be returned.
Calbayog City is located on the western coast of the province and is the site of the Samar Archeological Museum, a rich repository of ancient burial jars dating back to the stone and Iron Age, graves, jewelry, coins and porcelain.
Calbiga Cave is reputed to be one of the largest in the world.
San Juanico Bridge crosses over picturesque San Juanico Strait connecting the islands of Samar and Leyte, and provides a major link between northern and southern Philippines through the Pan-Philippine Highway.

Limledi - My Mom was born and raised in Samar. I've never been there and someday want to go back with her and experience her homeland with my own family. Your tips and reviews were great - very informative. Good pictures...any more?
