TAGAYTAY CITY

Tagaytay city is the second summer capital in the country and attracts visitors from the lowlands who revel in the cool crisp highland air. It is located about 70 km south of Manila and was once intended to become an alternative to the summer town of Baguio. Its high altitude (600m) and cool climate would seem to make it ideal to take over this role.
The Picnic Grove Complex in Sungay presents a splendid panoramic view of Taal Lake and Volcano. About 10 km east of Tagaytay, on Mt Sungay (750m) the Viewpoint Complex was built. From the public view deck here you have a marvellous view of lake Taal to the south, Laguna de Bay to the east and almost as far as Manila to the north. Jeepneys go up there regularly from the Tagaytay Rotonda (Silang Crossing), stopping on the way at the turn-off down to Talisay.
The sprawling town offers visitors superb views of the volcanic island with its crater lake, but only if the weather is clear. The volcano is one of the smallest and most dangerous in the world. Anyone who wants to climb it can arrange to be taken over to the volcanic island from Talisay, 17 km south-east of Tagaytay.
The city is the home to several convents, seminaries, retreat and seminar houses. It is suitable for spiritual meditation and earned the title "Center of Spiritual Retreat." The Flower Farm located on a windy slope of a hill keeps the province a bloom all year round. This farm grows a variety of lovely flowers such as carnations, chrysantemums and roses.

We had a grand time strolling around the complex. Spectacular views and fresh highland air.

We went there in sept as we had 1 peso tkts with cebupacific, stayed a couple of days, did the trip to Taal, but i thought Tagaytay was a town lacking its soul.

Tagaytay is very accessible from Manila so it's popular.
