Sign in with FacebookFor a visitor Lilongwe and Malawi in general probably seems far off the beaten track and it is. However it actually has a good infrastructure. It doesn't have South Africa's wildlife experience but there is a lot to see. There are hills and Lake Malawi which are both interesting and beautiful. Lilongwe has a nice hotel Crossroads (see my review) and a choice of good restaurants. Traffic is manageable but while I was there gas was in short supply which resulted in long lines at gas stations and some congestion. The people are friendly and helpful. All in all my 2 1/2 week stay was pleasant and trouble free.
- Pros:Nice people, good climate, good hotel and reastaurant
- Cons:Takes a long time to get in and out from North America
