"What a wonderful world!" anliz99's Profile
Yes, it is a wonderful world! Having the opportunity and freedom to visit new places, meet new people, explore other cultures...
Great meeting a lot of the VTers in Boracay!
Travelling is my passion and I love the beach! Sunsets on the beach make my day...
Been busy lately so have not really been able to post tips for my recent travels. Maybe I can do that one of these days :)

February 2010 - Donsol, Sorsogon
Yes, whale-shark watching with the rest of the VT Pilipinas gang! It was quite an awe-inspiring and fun trip. I'm proud of Team Gata! I believe everyone should try to see the whale sharks, even if you don't know how to swim :) Someone can always pull your hand and swim for you :) A must see!
March 2010 - La Union and Baguio
San Juan Surf Resort in La Union is a big surfing beach destination. It was quite a good weekend of a hot under the sun activity followed by a cool breezy evening in Baguio!
April 2010 - Davao
Another trip to Davao and some snorkeling in Paradise resort...
June 2010 - Beijing
Yes, climb the Great Wall! I did!
I wonder what's next? :)
May 2009 to December 2009
No trips! So sad...
Baguio City (April 2009)
It's sad that there's too much development in Baguio. It's now too crowded and too dirty (a lot of uncollected trash on the streets). I hope they'll put a stop and clean it up. It's a shame because Baguio used to be a very beautiful and relaxing place to go to.
Puerto Princesa, Palawan Again! (March 2009)
Updates are on my PP page :)
Coron, Palawan (March 2009)
Great great place! I really love Palawan! Coron is such a great place and you can enjoy the beauty of God's creation without breaking the bank :) Check out my Coron page!
Phuket, Thailand (March 2009)
Just got back from my Phuket trip. I guess the beaches are nice enough and the shopping is great. But beach in Boracay is still better. I also did a speedboat tour in Phi Phi Islands and the famed Maya Beach of Leo's The Beach. The place is great, beautiful sand, limestone cliffs. But too many people! It's overrun with tourists! We usually travel to the islands to get away from the madding crowd. Unfortunately here, you bring the madding crowd with you. Give me El Nido any time! :)
Golden Acres and VT Party (Dec 2008)
The presence of both Claus (VT member from Denmark) and lola (one of the grandmothers in Golden Acres home for the Aged) in my earlier photo showed how VT has bridged the gap between countries, age, culture and just about everything else. Since there were too many pics to post here, I put up an album in Facebook
Boracay, Phils (Nov 2008)
The white sand and crystal blue waters...Boracay beckons.... But it's sad that Boracay is becoming too crowded and overdeveloped. Someone should put a stop to more construction. Right now. Let's save our best beach!
Cagayan De Oro, Phils (August 2008)
I was in Cagayan de Oro last August for some great outdoor adventures. Whitewater rafting, nature trekking, rappelling etc. This is altogether a different trip, an adrenaline pumping one! Check out my CDO page.
Putrajaya, Malaysia (July 2008)
I was able to swing by Putrajaya before I left Malaysia. Wow, the structures are quite amazing. Here's my attempt to capture their nice pink mosque at dusk. Since I didn't have a tripod, I had to make do with supporting my camera on the railings! :) Check out my Putrajaya album.
Redang Island, Malaysia (July 2008)
Beach lovers should check out the place. Pristine white sand & great corals! Here's a look at the really nice white sand beach...
Eagle Point, Anilao (May 2008)
We had our office teambuilding when typhoon Cosme was making it's presence felt in the Philippines. I was fascinated by the big waves battering against the resort...
El Nido, Palawan (April 2008)
El Nido is a paradise that you should never miss. Check out my El Nido page for all the details. Places to see, money to save etc...
Aninuan Beach, Puerto Galera (February 2008)
I had a chance to relax for a weekend at the Aninuan Beach Resort in Puerto Galera. It's the quiet beach right beside White Beach. Rest and relaxation is the key here. But if you're looking for some action, White Beach is just around the corner (or a tricycle away).
Palawan Again! (January 2008)
I was in Palawan last January for a medical mission. But we stayed an extra two days to enjoy the beauty of Palawan. So what's new? A lot! This time I got to see the inside of Iwahig Penal Colony because it was one of the venues for the mission. Hundreds of prisoners lined up for treatment.
I also got to visit Arena Island in Narra. Since Narra is the other mission venue. Narra is about 2.5 hours from Puerto Princesa. Arena Island is about 1.5 to 2 hours of boat ride from the port of Narra. This island is a Pawikan sanctuary so we got to see the sea turtles. A pity we couldn't stay long. But the place is opened to tourist. Will post more info on this later.
One more new experience is Sabang. Got to explore it. See my Sabang page for more details. In Honda Bay, I got to see BIG fishes! A school of big jackfish and other 'shark-like' ones.
Again, Palawan continue to amaze and fascinate me. There are always new wonders to discover. I guess I will just keep coming back for more...
I was in Bohol for 5 days last December and stayed at the beautiful white sand beach of Alona. Experiencing paradise for a week. Wow, what a great opportunity. Read more about it in my Panglao and Bohol pages.
I got back from my trip to Malaysia last November 6 and I had a wonderful time! I managed to see KL, Malacca and Port Dicson and ended up spending too much on a digital SLR camera! But it was quite worth it. Now I can have better pictures for VT!
Davao was great! This time around, we concentrated in exploring Samal. Snorkeling was really exciting. In Paradise alone, fishes of all sizes and color abound. We had a great time there and we only had to shell out P90 for the entrance and P24 for the boat (round-trip)! Food is also very good and affordable here.
On our second day, we decided to explore Samal by bringing an SUV. This is really an off-the-beaten path adventure! There were roads that we were afraid we won't be able to pass through. Even had to turn back in the end. Snorkeling in Balet and Ligid Islands was really amazing especially knowing that the area is still 'virginal'. There are very few tourists that traipse here since it's quite far and difficult to get to.
It was my first time to stay in White Beach. Wow, made me feel like I was in Boracay (minus the fine white sand). To think I went here 7 years ago and there were no developments here at all. How time flies... and the development is still ongoing because you can see a number of buildings being constructed. Snorkeling is my passion so it was really a great time for me.
But most of all, we only spent 3,000 for the trip! Check out my PG page for the details!
Dumaguete is a great place to visit especially for people into eco-trips. It's what you would call a trip off the beaten path. It does not get as much cover as a tourist destination, but it's quite a good place to check out. We had a chance to visit the CasaRoro waterfalls, Bais City for dolphin watching and Apo Island for some snorkeling. Check out my Dumaguete page for the details. Suffice it to say that we had plenty of fun :) I do intend to visit again and check out some of the stuff that we missed like spelunking (heard they have pretty good caves), hiking towards the twin lakes, visiting the old balete tree in Canlaon etc.... the list goes on.
We had our office outing in Puerto Galera last March (right after my Palawan trip!). This is my first time in this part of PG. Varadero Bay is a quiet cove that is far from PG's madding crowd. We had so much fun at the Oceana Beach Resort. The resort is a very relaxing place that makes you just while away time and do nothing.
But everyone had a great time swimming in both the beach and pool (although the beach is rocky so you'll need aqua shoes), kayaking, playing beach volleyball, playing poker... sleeping in the hammock...
Quite an adventure! Palawan is really a must for everyone. Don't pass up the opportunity to visit this last frontier...
Stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it!
That's the U2 song that kept playing in my mind the entire day while we were on our way to Sabang to visit the Underground River. And what an apt song it was! We were really literally stuck on the road and had to hike 7kms of mud and rain. After hours of slogging through it, we ended up on the ranger station in Cabayugan. An hour after, a Nissan Safari driver took pity on us and allowed us to hitch a ride to Sabang. The view is simply amazing... limestone cliffs, crystal blue waters, misty mountains...
Nobody can really beat nature's hand when it comes to the beauty of its creation. It was well worth the trip. Yes, including the long unplanned trek. Beats doing the Monkey trail :)
Sunset on the beach is guaranteed to take your breath away and ease your worries.
I've always loved sunsets. Whenever there's an opportunity to watch one (and take a picture), I always make time. You see how beautiful nature is and everything become rose colored...
The stormswept beach at sunset... The setting sun and the ominous clouds paint an ethereal color. Makes you wonder, is this for real?
The turbulent sea, the red rays of the sun, gray and orange clouds, the endless horizon... evoke so much from us... touching the soul...
