Nice

First encounter

View of the promenade
Nice, Nissa, Nizza - The capital of the Côte d' Azur.

It's a place bustling with people - especially in the summer months, when the French enjoy their holidays too.
Crowded streets, places, cafés, beaches... you name it.
But after a day or two you get used to it and then Nice starts to charm you with all it's beauty - just give it some time.

A place to stay - or to travel

Nice is located just perfectly between some other nice places, Monaco-Monte Carlo north-east, Antibes, Cannes south-west. So if you've got some time, just hop onto the train - it takes ~20min to Monaco and Antibes and ~45min to Cannes.
Travelling by train is very cheap, a ticket to monaco and back costs around 4,80 EUR (students). If you're even more on budget, take the bus - a ticket is 1,20 EUR and allows you to travel 72mins on the bus lines, even to Monaco.
Be sure to have a look at the signs in the stations - trains and busses can get VERY crowded, especially at rush hours or on weekends.

The rich and the famous

Yes, they seem to be there somewhere - at least the prices speak for it.
Nice has always attracted the rich folks, as it has a very pleasing climate and those lovely bays with the deep blue mediterranean sea all around.
There are plenty of high class/high priced restaurants and all the well-known brands are gathered in the streets.
Life is quite expensive here.
If you've got some loose cash you can rent a heli at the airport and get yourself a shuttle-trip to one of your yachts.
