O' Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver is a cosmopolitan city filled with many cultures (particulary asian) and much creativitiy. Vancouver is a very clean city in comparison to many North American cities. The sreets are narrow and fun and the neighborhoods are youthful and artistic. Vancouver is "alive" with a normal day here consisting of hundreds of pedestrians scurrying to and fro their locations, boats on the water, busses honking, people riding bikes, asian markets lining the streets with fresh produce and plenty of fun festivals.
Business in Vancouver is largely independently own in comparison to U.S cities and that brings in much creativity and unique places to dine/shop.
British Columbia in general is bountiful to self-publishing and those who strive in the art scene, so those who admire a time of reflection will enjoy.
The economy in Vancouver is mainly focused on Tourism and industrial type jobs so your average person here makes probably no more than $15CDN per hour.
The housing here is expensive and fueled by a influx of immigrants overseas and well the 2010 Olympics.
Surrounding areas of Vancouver are beautiful and breathtaking in their own sense.
Richmond is the closest you will come in North America to Hong Kong, with a high percentage of asian immigrants including an Asian shopping mall called Aberdeen Centre, with my favorite store called Daiso where everything is $1-3 and the items are of high quality.
Things I enjoy in Vancouver 1) Stanley park: A beautiful park adjacent to the West End and English Bay. 2) Chinatown: More lively than any Chinatown in North America 3) Gastown: Ok shopping/dining 4) Yaletown: Fun, artistic, hip 5) Granville Island: Great farmer's market 6) West End: Cherry blossom lined streets, fun cafes, Robson Street (think old Hollywood), with great views Pretty much everything is fun and nice in Vancouver, so no matter what you do its a win-win situation! |
