Capital of the North West

Gateway to the Highlands

Bamenda is the Capital of the North West province of Cameroon. As with any other sizeable city it has all the facilities and ameneties you will need. Good accom can be found for different rates depending on the standard you require. The best value for money is probably the Baptist Mission Rest House @ around 3000cfa per night. Bamenda has a good daily market on Comercial avenue and bartering is the name of the game - especially if you are a Wabunga (whiteman). Bamenda is however just another city and after a day or so you will want to head out to the countryside and see the beautiful sights and tribal culture the rest of the province das to offer.
Known as the gataway to the highlands Bamenda has great accessability to all the lush villages and mountains. For the best sights, walks, treks, mountain biking and home stays head out to the villages of Belo or Fundong.
