"Mangaweka was a Hoot!" Mangaweka by Uncle_Rico

Had a great time in Mangaweka. Was on my way up to the ski fields on the night of the super 14 final. Stopped of at a great little home stay there, named Mangaweka Homestay (funnily enuff!!). Went to the Mangaweaka Hotel in my Crusaders shirt and got well and truly barracked by the local Hurricanes fans! all good fun and better still we won!! had a great fish and chips counter meal as well, for just 10 bucks! washed down with a few Tui's. Next day wondered around the old town, which looks like something out of a spagetti western. had a coffee in a suspended airoplane cafe! and visited a realy funky art gallery in an old church on the main highway there. All good. Will deffinately stop off here again.

• Pros:Well positioned for a stop off on the way to the Ski fields
• Cons:Pub shut at mid-night (a bit early for me!)
• In a nutshell:More than just a great pub and art gallery as well.
