woodville mississippi is a small town near the louisiana-mississippi border on US 61. woodville is the county seat of wilkinson county mississippi. there are a couple of attractions of interest to the tourist. most visitors come to woodville to see the jefferson davis boyhood home and nearby greenwood plantation. woodville is a interesting "off the beaten path" place to see in southwest mississippi.

general carnot posey CSA

carnot posey was born near woodville in 1818. posey was a lieutenant in the mexican-american war. after the war president james buchanan appointed posey district attorney for southern mississippi. when mississippi succeded from the union posey became a confederate general. posey was killed in 1863 at the battle of bristoe station.
