braselton is a tiny town just off I-85 in northeast georgia. the town is named after the braselton family that lived in the area for a number of decades. in 1989 the braselton family sold the town for 20 million dollars to the ameritech pension fund and actress kim basinger. basinger planed to build a movie studio in the area and turn the town into a tourist attraction. later basinger had some financial difficulties and backed out of the project. there is really not much to do or see in braselton with the exception of a couple of historic buildings and homes. near the town is the chateau elan winery which is the largest winery in georgia. when in the winder area of northeast georgia braselton is worth a quick look.
