cross creek is a tiny residental community located east of micanopy florida. cross creek is best known as the home of marjorie kinnan rawlings. rawlings lived on a 72 acre farm in cross creek from 1928 until the 1950's. marjorie kinnan rawlings is best known for her pulitizer prize winning novel "the yearling". today the rawling farm is a historic state park and you can tour her home. the cross creek area is also known for it's excellent fresh water fishing. for those interested in nature and florida history cross creek is an interesting "off the beaten path" place to visit in central florida.
