tannehill state park

tannehill historical state park is a very interesting place to visit for those interested in alabama history and nature. the park is home to the tannehill iron works that produced iron for the confederacy during the civil war. the park also has scores of historic buildings from all over alabama on display at the park. the park offers camping, rental cabins, swimming in roupes creek, a miniture childrens train, and the alabama iron and steel museum. from birmingham take I-459 west in the direction of tuscaloosa to mcalla alabama (exit 1) then take eastern valley road about 5 miles south to the park entrance.
