the russell cave national monument is located off of US 72 near the town of bridgeport in northeast alabama. russell cave has been home to native american cultures from 6500 BC to 1650 AD. paleo, archaic, woodland, and mississippian native cultures have visited russell cave. the russell cave archaeological site contains the most complete record of prehistoric cultures in the southeastern united states. for those interested in native american history and culture russell cave is a very interesting place to visit.
