mountain brook is an affluent suburb of birmingham alabama. mountain brook was developed in 1929 on red mountain by robert jemison. landscape architect warren h. manning plotted the towns estate lots, and designed it's hiking paths, green space, and villages. there are three small shopping areas in mountain brook called villages that offer stores, restaurants, and bars. mountain brook was home to the actors wayne rodgers, kate jackson, and courtney cox and to the pro football quarterback bart starr. mountain brook received national media attention in 2005 when mountain brook resident natalee holloway disappeared on a school trip in aruba. i had the opportunity to live in mountain brook in the late 1990's and it is a wonderful place to live and work. for tourists visiting the birmingham area mountain brook is a very worth while place to visit.
