the town of kilkenny is located about 90 miles southwest of dublin. it rose to prominence in the 13th century and became the medieval capital of ireland. in the 1390's the ango-norman butler family came to power and ruled this area for 500 years. there are a number of historical attractions in the town as well as over 80 pubs. kilkenny can get very crowded on weekends when the town is invaded by dubliners. a very nice place to visit when in southeast ireland. |
