    • the zum turken is a wonderful guesthouse located on the obersalzberg plateau near the hintereck parking lot. the rooms are spartan but very clean and many of the rooms have excellent views of the alps. in the evenings there is a house bar where quests drink beer and wine and visit. the zum turken also offers a very good breakfast which is included in the room price. the zum turken is located next to the ruins of the berghof and is walking distance to the kehlsteinhaus (eagles nest) bus and the documentation center museum. the zum turken is a great place to stay if you plan to visit the kehlsteinhaus.

     I first went to the Kehlsteinhaus in 1965 and have been to the area a number of times since. The last time I went 3 years ago I walked up instead of using the bus. I had lunch and walked back down. I slept well that night.    		iandsmith Wed Jan 24, 2007 04:16 UTC
