No picture can ever describe the experience... I had heard of the event for years and had no interest. Friends would show me their strange photos of the dusty desert, strange art and even stranger people. I just did not understand. And why would I bear the heat of the day, the cold of the desert evenings, the alkaline playa, and all while camping with no water anywhere other than what you bring yourself??? I have attended the festival in the desert three times now. The moment you arrive you know you've arrived somewhere very special. No picture or story can convey what a truly amazing place and experience it is. Like any community, it encompasses all types. But your experience there will totally be your own and I guarantee you have never experienced such an amazing place in your life... no matter what your sex, age, religion, likings, ideas... burning man is its own utopia and everyone should experience its freedom at least once in their life. http://www.burningman.com |
The Man Burning The main event the Saturday night before the festival ends on Labor Day. |
A typical day... Burning Man is too big to capture in one or even one hundred photos. There is more to see and do than you could ever imagine... and you never feel rushed to even try to see and/or do all of it. Like a honey bee, you float happy from one flower of experience to the next, or maybe just in one pretty garden that feels right for you. Many camps (see website) offer activites, classes and shows all day long. I particulary liked the yoga and massage classes, but you can find any and everything. Go study and learn something new, or play like a child. It's all there. And at night there is light, fire, music, and dance. It's truly ALIVE! |
