"Lata Kijang" Negeri Sembilan by xtcgodzilla

Lata Kijang is situated deep in the forest of Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan. The road is accessible preferably by four wheel drive. One can start the journey from Kuala Lumpur, taking the route to Ulu Langat. The entire journey takes about 2 hours. Along the journey you'll pass rubber plantations, farms and Orang Asli settlement.

Update : 5/5/07. I was told that is place is no longer 'available' as the 'owners' did not maintain it. What a waste....

Orang Asli Settlement

This particular Orang Asli campsite is located 850m above sea level. Facilities include a longhouse, camping sites, toilets, showers and believe it or not, a BBQ pit.

The highlight of this campsite is the clear river water nearby, the beautiful natural surrounding and of course the toilet/shower facilities.

The Orang Asli is from the Temuan Tribe and they actually live and maintain this campsite with the help of a local tour operator.

Kijang Jatoh Falls

There's a couple of highlights in Lata Kijang.

One of them is the breathtaking waterfall of Kijang Jatoh, claimed to be the highest single point drop waterfall in Malaysia.

There's also a river beside the settlement which can can trek up to a river canyon called Jeram Berungut. This is one place you don't wanna miss. The scenery is like a setup from a Blue Lagoon movie. Very captivating.

There's nothing much besides this two places. You can actually ask the Orang Asli to perform tribal dance, setting up traps for fish and animals, and weaving leaf for roof shelter.
