The old city known as Aintap is 12 kilometers at the north of the present city, This area was inhabited starting from the Paleolithic age later on Assyrians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Abbasid and the SeljukTurks. Later the Ottoman Empire.Because of the resistance to French occupation in 1921 the city is rewarded with the name of “veteran” Gaziantep is one of the modern cities of south east Anatolia and also one of the oldest of Hittite origin. Its also the center of pistachio nut cultivation in Turkey and with its extensive olive groves and vineyards, Gaziantep is one of the important and industrial centers of Turkey. You can imagine that after so many civilisation the cuisine becomes one of the most famous cuisine in Turkey |
