I had dreamt of going to Bruges for a long time and when the moment finally arrived I was terrified that the reality would not live up to my dreams. I was wrong on all counts. It did not live up to my expectations, it exceeded them over and over and over. |
| | Not a Tourist in Sight I thought I would be jostling for space among hordes of tourists. As you will see from my photos, the only other tourist I spotted was my husband.Okay, we did go at the crack of dawn on a Tuesday in early December but even at lunchtime the streets were just buzzing nicely with no hint of mass tourism. |
| | Look This Way One of the nicest things about Bruges is that its beauty is not confined to specific areas or attractions. Everywhere you look in Bruges you will find something to surprise or delight you and even if you have just one day you can accumulate enough memories to last a lifetime. What's important is to savour the atmosphere, enjoy everything you see and do and don't rush around trying to fit everything in. |

ranger49 Mon Mar 9, 2009 13:22 UTC Very nice page - clearly shows how much can be done in a day! Exactly 25 years ago yesterday since I was first there and daughter there, by coincidence, yesterday. She loved the place too! | unaS Tue Jul 1, 2008 16:06 UTC My Brugge pages don't come anywhere near yours! Especially the great photos!!! Did I tell you that before when I was researching the trip? | travelfrosch Fri Mar 7, 2008 00:20 UTC Nice page! But I think I'll enjoy my waffles with cream and chocolate sauce, hold the drool... ;o) Thanks for your kind comments, BTW -- glad to be of help! 8) Cheers, Mark | aussirose Mon Dec 31, 2007 02:11 UTC Just came back for another visit Katherine. I like your idea of picking out details on buildings and taking time to examine them closely and taking time to discover! Enjoyed the read. Cheers, Ann :o) |
