The Danes love their flag. Most countries have an affection for their flag but I never saw this demonstrated so often or so pointedly as in Denmark. The flag, the Danebrog is everywhere, and if you happen on any event you can depend on being engulfed in a sea of red and white. We saw the flags in houses, gardens, shops, restaurants and every other place you could imagine.
Another thing I observed in the windows of almost every Danish house was a particularly attractive ornamental plant , trained to grow in a circle above the flower pot. I wondered if this has any special significance for Danes?
There are two other small things which spring to mind when I remember Funen: one is the Kvickly Supermarket, where we spent many happy hours shopping and browsing and the other is a chain of restaurants, called I think, Jenssens Bof House . I think maybe I spent a little too much time searching for that elusive' Real Denmark', BUT, I loved what I found.
This photo is obviously not of the Danish flag, but it is of the Royal Palace in Copenhagen, so I hope you will excuse the rather flimsy connection
