"Funen - The one in the Middle" Fyn by Ekaterinburg
Fyn Travel Guide: 20 reviews and 41 photos
The map of Denmark always reminds me of The Three Bears: Big Daddy Bear Jutland; Medium Sized Mummy Bear Zeeland and Small Baby Bear Funen. Many guide books reinforce this idea, with suggestions that, apart from a few major attractions like Odense, there is little reason to linger in Funen.
Three years ago, in a quest to find the 'Real Denmark' I spent a week in Funen. We sailed from the UK to Ejsberg and left via the Oresund bridge to Malmo - en route, the week in Funen sussing out the Danes. So, while I was admiring rolling clouds over golden cornfields and strolling through villages and towns I was waiting for profound insights. What actually happened was that I had a very enjoysble week in tranquil, pastoral Funen.
There are BIG attractions in Funen and many of them like Egeskov Castle are dealt with in great detail on other pages on VT but that is not what this page is about. It's about the ordinary, everyday attractions of a really underrated part of Denmark.

Heck yeh-I remember the Legoland park. It surged in the US because of that. YOur comments and pictures depict everyday life; as you stated was the purpose. Nice presentation.
interesting page !
I've been to some places in Jutland and then in Zeeland but never in Funen. Nice tips!
Legoland and the Psychiatric Museum. What a mix. I wonder if they are subjecting you to subliminal messages while in the museum...
If all the homes looked like your pic, it must be an adorable town. Loved the sunflower pic ... w/ fields and clouds.
Denmark is a beautiful country which I hope to be able to visit one day!
Wonderful and idyllic countryside, I appreciate it!
Hi, Katherine, am enjoying your Fyn tips, before I go to bed. Went to a terrific jazz concert tonight, so am bit wound up! Its 12:30 a.m. here. Lovely Sunday ahead...and you?
I've not been to Denmark, so thanks for letting me see a little thrugh your page.
Very nice to see what rural Denmark looks like! Wandering around places like this is what I enjoy more than most cities on my trips. My best buddy in Zambia was a Dane, so I've always wanted to go have a look at the place for myself!
