Brief History | Me and my beautiful wife Morwenna |
I was lucky enough to travel abroad with my folks and sister when I was a kid and it was then I probably got the bug. After leaving school I worked at Mc Donalds for around 6 months until I saw a job advertised in a local independant travel agency.
I got the job which involved general travel advice, selling holidays etc. One of the perks were the seminars, you would be invited by tourism boards, hoteliers airlines etc where they would promote their products. They would also have competitions the prize was usually top notch. Here I was in my elliment and won loads of trips. From the age of 17 I was travelling from the Carribean to as far as Oz -ALL FOR FREE-.
I also got invited out through the firms on 'educationals' which again were promotional trips in order on your return to the UK you would sell their product. My boss was fantastic, he was the sole owner of the agency and I suspect he used to tell customers a bit of a lie he had paid for me to go on the trips to make him look wealthy I suppose!
Anyway I did this for 3 years and although hard to believe I did get a bit fed up with living out of a suitcase. The perks were unbelievable but the pay lousy. I wanted to pursue my life long ambition of becoming a police officer and get a pension started. I was successful and have been doing that since 1996.
I am so grateful for the oppourtunity I was given and the travelling really opened up my eyes at an early age. I strongly feel that this has helped me to be a better person in life and given me plenty of great memories.
My favourite destination so far has been 'USA'. I have only started to visit here recently and have been to Las Vegas,San Francisco and New York. This year my wife and I are returning to Vegas then on to Los Angeles and the Chicago. What I like most about America is the diversity, each destination is so unique and different and the people are great.
I dont really have any set preference over hoildays whether it be a beach holiday, city break or multi centre I love it all.
Only snag is I developed a fear of flying about 5 yrs ago which is annoying, nothing triggered it off, it just started. It will never stop me from doing what I love best and over time it seems to be getting better.
Cheers
