The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower from the Champs De Mars
Paris' 3 great icons! The Eiffel Tower, L'Arc De Triomphe and Notre Dame.

This is a view of the Eiffel Tower from the Champs De Mars, which is a park in front of the Eiffle Tower. Make sure you see the tower from all sides and also at night during the light show which takes place on the hour. One can take the steps or the elevator to enjoy spectacluar views of Paris.
L'Arc De Trimomphe

L'Arc De Triomphe

One could think of the Arc De Triomphe as the gateway to the Champs Elysees! Commissioned by Napoleon, and designed by Chalgrin, the Arc De Triomphe was built as a tribute to the French army. It was completed in 1836 and is 164 feet high by 148 feet long. You can climb to the top of the arc for very interesting views of the city. There is also a musem at the top.

Notre Dame

Construction for this elegant gothic cathedral began in 1163, but it was not completed until 1345, almost 200 years later. Notre Dame is probably most famous for its flying buttresses along the eastern facade of the church where there also is a garden. One can climb to the top of the cathedral for some spectacular views!

Still an amazing video. You make me want to be there with the two of you again. So nicely done. And Edith Piaf...Mon petite sparrow, je t'aime.

Mark, Thanks for the great tips, some of them saved. Yes, I have a horror story about getting a cab in Paris too! Looks like things have not improved. ~ Helen

Soooo, you're the Mark Larry talks about :-) I enjoyed your Paris tips. So true about the taxi situation. It's easier to ask the hotel to book you a shuttle and it's MUCH cheaper.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Paris. Was it on your way to the EuroMeet 2008 in Karlsruhe?
