Weekend in Montreal at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel

by singersongwriter - last update: May 18, 2006

Arrival...

Crossing a bridge exiting Montreal
We drove from New York to Montreal, it was snowy all the way but a nice and interesting journey.

When we entered Quebec it was like... welcome to Europe. What a strange feeling, exiting the states and after a minute see a road sign that tells you a distance to the nearest city in kilometers! Suddenly you don't have to be 21 to get in to the clubs. Nice.

So when we arrived to Montreal and got out of the car in front of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel something struck me - the freezing temperature. Wow, this was worse than my dear birthland Sweden. Mybe if the wind wasn't blowing it wouldn've been barable, but the wind was a killer!

The Ritz had a nice and warm room waiting for us.

Unfortunately I can't remember why I only took a few photos of this beautiful city, but hey...
Pink Floyd's signed electric guitar at HRC

Great eggspectations...

We visited a couple of trendy restaurants (shame I don't remember their names, sorry, it was a while ago...) and diners in Montreal during our weekend stay, we went shopping and we also went to the Hard Rock Café, and I tell ya, there aren't many t-shirts from HRC Montreal in Europe, but I have one =)

A place we ate brunch at and that i strongly recommend is "Eggspectation", about a block away from the Ritz-Carlton. That's about the furthest distance we were willing to walk because of the icy, snowy and (worst of all) windy weather. They have great food really, and it's wort the price (which is quite high)... it's really eggcellent! Check it out at http://www.eggspectation.ca/

Ah, the coldness...

Here's a picture taken in the car driving over a bridge. The steam is coming from the water - it was so cold outside that the water was warmer, thus the cool special effects.

About 6 months after my visit to Montreal, the national waterpolo team of Serbia and Montenegro won the world cup in Montreal, and I was thinking how nice it wouldn've been to had been there in the summertime and watch them take the gold, now that wouldn've been something! =)
Steamy... except the water wasn't warm...

I eat at the eggspectations in Old Montreal on St-Jacques West and believe it or not while traveling in India I came across one of the same restaurants at the hotel I stayed at Jaypee Vasant Continental Hotel in New Delhi.
