Las Vegas, the biggest Sin City in the world

by TheTravelSlut - last update: Jan 13, 2007

The Travel Slut's August 2006 Las Vegas trip

Las Vegas can certainly live up to any of its claims whether it be Sin City, Sun City or Fun City.

There has been several transformations of Las Vegas over the years from a gambler's paradise, to Sin City for adults, to family-oriented, and back to Sin City.

People come to Las Vegas for many reasons and not all of them concern gambling. I went to enjoy the Wynn and seek some knowledge on everything Las Vegas has to offer and I learned that the reasons people now come to Las Vegas (in order) are:

1. To enjoy the hotel-resort & entertainment offerings
2. To shop
3. To eat at the myriad of restaurants
4. To gamble.
The Travel Slut feels the Wynn is tops in luxury

Las Vegas Hotels-Casinos-Resorts-Spas

The quality, variety & prices for hotel-casino-resorts in Las Vegas offer as much or as little as you wish to spend and enjoy.

I recently stayed at the (relatively) new Wynn Resort and it is certainly the finest I have experienced ever in Las Vegas from suite size and amenities to choice of activities (golf on property for one) and restaurants (15), and shopping (the Esplanade is both unique and amazing.
The Travel Slut has enjoyed every Las Vegas show

The Travel Slut's "What to do, what not to do"

Identify what you need to do first and then what you want to do next. You will not be able to do everything in a few days or even a week. If your primary goal in Las Vegas is to see every major casino then you have your work cut out for you. If you only want to gamble, then pick a casino where the odds favor your game and pocketbook. If you wish to simply enjoy the desert and the water activities or the sightseeing (like the Grand Canyon), then be sure to slow down and enjoy these things as time will be lost easily.

Don't forget to hydrate in the summer, be careful in the full sun (especially on the pavement and roadways), don't jaywalk, don't get so intoxicated that you lose control of your senses (and your money, purse or wallet) and try to get some sleep in the city that never sleeps so that you have the energy to enjoy all Las Vegas has to offer.

Also, remember that the workers live on tips so when you do get great service, tip accordingly.

Pros:"The largest variety of activities in the USA"
Cons:"You can leave broke but happy or broke and sad depending on your forethoughts"
In A Nutshell:"Las Vegas is everything you'd want for in a city to visit, but not everything in Nevada is like Las Vegas"
