If you come to Miami to cruise | A view from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami Beach |
The water is what draws many people to Miami and the surrounding area and for different reasons.
Some wish to look at it, some to avoid it, some wish to swim in it (either above or below the surface) and some wish to cruise on it.
Miami's seaport brings thousands of people to the area each year and some never see anything more than the airport and the port 7 miles away. But what they see in that short span should make them consider all the Miami has to offer.
The people of Miami and of Florida itself (I can say this because I live here) like to work but LOVE to play--whether it is on or near the water or at any of the dozens of venues--both cultural or recreational. |
| Indoor or outdoor sports, Miami has it all |
| | If you come to Miami for sports Your biggest problem here will be what choice to make. Here's a sampling:
To view as a spectator:
Football-- college and professional Basketball-- college and professional Hockey------ professional Baseball---- college, minor league and professional Jai-Alai------ professional Horse racing- professional Dog racing-- professional Golf----- professional Tennis-- college and professional
To participate in:
Swimming Snorkeling Scuba diving Airboat rides Speedboat rides Golf Tennis Fishing Wave running Parasailing Kayaking Windsurfing Surfing Eco-adventures |
| Plan on some happy people in South Beach |
| | If you come to Miami for holiday or vacation Miami is a big city--almost 400,000 people just within the city limits.
The Miami area, however, is over 2.5 million people and with this many people come the problems of traffic congestion, road construction, building demolitions, building renovations and new building.
However, the weather is generally desirable--that is, sunny and warm (but also hot during the summer months).
The wide variety of things to do are a result of Miami's location. You can be riding an airboat in the morning, spending the afternoon on the beach and enjoying a great dinner on the waterfront followed by a sporting event or theater.
Your choices of accomodations are as varied as you would like from B&B's to art deco hotels to modern resorts or old Florida motels.
Your choices of food can range from seafood to Cuban or American to fast food. Your transportation can be the metro-rail train or private car or even public buses. |
