Costa Rica and some of what it has to offer

by TheTravelSlut - last update: Jul 26, 2006

My first time in Costa Rica (but not my last)

Costa Rica. You can't have rainbows without rain.
My first Costa Rica trip put me on a limited time schedule and I really wanted to see and do as much as possible. Fortunately, my time there was long enough to whet my appetite and make plans for my next visit (March 2007).

The real purpose for this trip was to research some medical facilities for a friend who was considering plastic and cosmetic surgery in Costa Rica (no, not me--a real friend).

One thing that impressed (and surprised) me as soon as I arrived at San Jose's Juan Santamaria International Airport was the huge amount of advertisements for Medical & Dental Clinics---especially those specializing in Cosmetic Dentistry and Plastic Surgery.

Costa Rica--a land of many features

Sandwiched between the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica's landscape is as varied as any place in North America.

From tropical rain forests and jungles to rocky beach fronts and palm-lined sandy beaches, from volcanos to rich, fertile growing lands, Costa Rica can appeal to everyone.
Beautiful and a true back-to-nature spot

So much to see and explore

There are areas of Costa Rica that seem so remote that one might think they are the first person to ever set foot in an area.

There are however, plenty of populated places to see including some ex-pat contingents on the Caribbean side who are very content with their lifestyle.

Pros:"A chance to see and experience diverse wildlife & nature"
Cons:"Encroaching development and lots of bugs"
In A Nutshell:"For all-around value, Costa Rica is hard to beat"
