Plan on cruiseship passengers during the day | Cruiseships can dominate the harbor area |
The Caymans (specifically Georgetown) can be quiet if there no cruiseships in port or if there are just some smaller ones.
But add 3 ships with 2,000 to 3,000 passengers each, plus ship crews, and downtown can fill up quick. The good thing is that there is more energy then--good if you seek it, bad if you are trying to avoid it.
That is why having access to and using a beachfront home in the Cayman's is an ideal way to get the best the island has to offer both on land and on water. I'm referring to the beautiful complex of SeaCliff Beach Resort homes (email me for details or check my tip on accomodations). |

| | The waters are inviting The water invites only a few people to come to the Cayman Island in the first place, but brings many back to the Island as a result.
The waters around the Caymans are clear, warm and full of life.
Whether you wish to swim and interact with the famous North Sound stingrays or just dip your toes in the calm waters, there is something for everyone here and the waters have a way of calming you.
Beachfront homes I have can allow access to on the east end of Grand Cayman are situated right on a gorgeous marine preserve (Sea Cliff Beach Resort homes). Email me for details or check my tip on accomodations.
Of course, for the more adventurous (or less?), there is always the rooftop pool at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville downtown. |
The Cayman's are touristy but still laid back While the Caymans have their touristy side, there is also much to see and do that won't be found in the regular travel resources.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with just hanging on a beach somewhere, enjoying some local cuisine and soaking up the rays.
My favorite thing to do is to rest and relax in one of the Sea Cliff Beach resort homes on the east end (Cottage area) of Grand Cayman about 20 minutes east of downtown Georgetown. Whether it is enjoying a jacuzzi soak overlooking a pristine marine preserve and reef or soaking up the sun the beach just steps away from the back porch, this location has it all for a tropical paradise getaway holiday rental. (Email me for details or see my tip on accommodations). | | | OK. It's touristy but still fun |

BruceDunning Thu Nov 5, 2009 18:55 UTC It looks like you would have a hard time tearing away from the spot on the beach. The trip sounds wonderful, and glad you had a good time. | balhannah Wed Aug 12, 2009 22:46 UTC A pity VT didn't have a separate section for cruises. We have wondered about doing this one, it looks like you had a great time. We like Princess cruises too, have been on the Diamond Princess and that was excellent as well. | hunterV Thu Aug 6, 2009 11:21 UTC You've stayed at all fabulous resorts and found the Earth paradise, Ann! Congratulations! Well done! ><< | SLLiew Tue Feb 17, 2009 21:27 UTC Ann, Great tips on Grand Cayman. So there is a Georgetown there too. The city of Penang Island is also called Georgetown. Cheers, SL :) |
