Through Petrohanski Prohod

We left Sofia in the morning to go to Belogradchik. We didn't want to drive through the highway, so we decided to look for an alternative road and we saw this way through the mountain, Pertohanski Prohod (Petrohan Pass).

It was difficult to find the right way out of the city because of the lack of indications, but after asking to directions for the road to Montana a couple of times we managed to head for the right place.

The passage was beautiful, specially now that the spring brought so many greens to the Bulgarian mountains.

First stop - Klisurski Manastir

The Klisura monastery is easy to find. If you follow the Petrohan pass you'll see the indications before you get to Montana.

It's a beautiful and quite place and I was surprised to see how well organized it was. They have a couple of restaurants by the monastery, souvenirs, accomodation and I think they even organize hiking and horse trips and other sorts of leisure activities in the area.

Check this site for more info:

When we stoped at the monastery we could witness something quite amazing for us (and maybe for the rest of the people who reads this).

The Pope was blessing a brand new car!! Ok, it was a nice Wolkswagen Passat... but still...
