The indoor merry-go-round - Bear Mountain State Park

Bear Mountain State Park is one of the most popular parks in the East. It offers some awesome views of the Hudson River Valley. On a clear day you can glimpse the ever famous Manhattan skyline.

There is no camping at Bear Mountain, but visitors can stay at the famous Bear Mountain Inn which offers rustic lodging and dining.

There are more than 60 miles of hiking trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. Attractions include a trailside museum and zoo.

The park's newest feature is an enclosed merry-go-round, which is open weekends year-round, and daily during summer. Children and adults can choose to go round on a wide variety of animals including bears, dogs, cats, horses, swans and even a raccoon.

The Hudson River and Hessian Lake border this beautiful park. Fishing, swimming and all forms of boating are popular.

In winter, visitors enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing and sledding.
