THE THIRD OF 4 STATES IN ONE DAY-I'M EXHAUSTED

Bridge connectin Portsmouth and Kittery
The first weekend of July 2006, SES and I decided to take a trip to Maine because he had never been there. We began our excursion in Milford Connecticut on Friday evening then headed north early Saturday morning. The traffic was terrible. It was all stop and go once we reached the Massachusettes Turnpike. We stopped at a rest area on the turnpike which had a great farm stand. It really wasn't a farm stand though, they sold home made dip mixes and hand crafted pottery. The dip samples were fantastic. I highly recommend the key lime cheese cake mix. We stayed at a Homeward Suites in Billerica. We checked into the hotel and hit route 95 towards Maine. We arrived in Kittery about 4 o'clock, too late to hit any of the museums, but early enough to stop in a couple of outlets and see Fort McClary. After touring the fort, we headed to Portsmouth. We loved the town and found it very walkable. I had wanted to stop at Pier 15 a restaurant I had visited when I was a teen, but it had long since closed. We took the opportunity to visit some of the pubs and restaurants listed on the AA Idines program. A few drinks and an order of nachos later, we finally headed back to the hotel. Thank goodness my travel buddy stopped drinking long before I did, although it did make for a fantastic drive back to the hotel for him. The next morning we made our way to Salem and then on to Albany.

I was there a year ago, and the town is so quaint and peaceful. You seem to have also enjoyed what it has to offer. Good presentation.
