Delicious food,wonderfull view! - Lisbon
Armazem Grill: Delicious food,wonderfull view!

First time we went here, was at the noon, and tell you the truth,we had a hangover..We had had a terrible food last night(not at this place,at that one I had given only one star),witch we couldn´t even eat,but we did drink the wine we had ordered with it..And some drinks after. What a misstake..
Anyway,we needed to get something to eat,and ordered toeast.Whe they came, they were huge, had so good cheese(and lot of it) in them and there was even lots of fries with the toasts.Life felt so much better after we ate these ;)
While we ate,we checked the menu, and because it looked good,we came back next night, and had good steaks with some kind of cheese-sauce.Photo of the steak isn´t so good, because we wanted to eat outside, and it was dark. But there was a wonderfull view to the Jesus-monument and the bridge with lights. The view was also nice at daytime.
We actually kind of celebrated our wedding aniversary that night (one night before the real one, when we needed to go to sleep early),and this was quite romantic place to eat then :)

Favorite Dish: Weonly tried one maincourse, but it was so good!!
And these toast were the best I ever had!The cheese on them must have been the seacred!

Friendly and nice - Lisbon
Il Carpaccio: Friendly and nice

One reason, why we went in,was because they weren´t trying too hard to get us in.We hate those people walking behind you and asking you to eat at their restaurant.Maybe it´s cultural thing, but we Finns seem to hate it,all people I have been talking about this,at least.
Another reason to go in was number of locals dining there. As most of you know,it´s usually a good sign.

Service was friendly, and food was good, and so we did go there two nights.

Favorite Dish: Pizza was good, and so was pasta witch we ate next day.

Pasta - Lisbon
Sapore Italiano: Pasta

We had eaten too heavy snack-food at the daytime (after last night at Bairro alto bars..) so we wanted to have something with no meat. This restaurant had good value of pastas,so we choosed it.

Favorite Dish: Some of you might get bored,if reading my tips, but it was again:Spaghetti aglio e olio. Maybe I´m addicted to it? ;)
My husband liked his cnucchi.I might have taken them,if there wouldn´t been tomato-sauce with them.I´m not big fan of tomatos. As "a spice" it´s o.k.,but as a main-taste..No thanks.

Typical Italian food - Lisbon
Ristorante Valentino: Typical Italian food

Service was littleless friendly than we had used to in Portugal. When we looked the other customers,we guessed we didn´t have "good enough" clothes (t-shirt and a shirt,t-shirt and short-pants),but we were tired and didn´t go away.
Food was good, but we noticed that other people had bread with pasta, and we didn´t!
Because the pasta was good,we did go there once more, but I did not like the weithres first time.Next time we had different one,and he even gave us the bread ;)

Favorite Dish: Pasta.I guess I had aglio e olio next time, and it was better than this ham and cream first time.My husband had lasagne and liked it more than I did my own pastas.

Not really local.. - Lisbon
Hard rock cafe: Not really local..

We don´t have hard rock cafe in Finland, and because we are hard rock-fans,we have many times considered going there somewher. But usually they play terrible MTV-pop,and has nothing to do with hard rock. But this one didn´t sound so pop,and we finally went in.

Place looked inresting, and all that rock-properties were fun for us-not to mention the Cadillac hanging at the roof :) My husband was so excited about it.

Favorite Dish: Actually I didn´t like the food I ate.It was chicken, but not very tasty.I wouldn´t order it again.
My husband had three cheese pasta, and he loved it.Must saythat it was better than mine, when I tasted it.

One of best foods we´ve had - Lisbon
Cervejaria de Republica (?): One of best foods we´ve had

We ate here twice.Another time was our wedding aniversary. The food was so good, that we had not get as good anywhere else at that trip.
I ate the same portion both times, for it was soooo good.It was filet-steak with sauce made of cream, lemon and garlic.Wet´s my mouth to think about it ;) The gratin of potatos came box-shaped,and looked little wired, but tasted good. There was so much sauce, that you couldn´t eat all!
They also had good local beers, and very nice staff. Also live music twice a week.Another time was at our wedding aniversary, and the man sang song from the days when we were teenagers.
For some reason,I can´t find the restaurants web-page,I hope they haven´t shut down.Ofr do I have teh wrong name!?I hope I will finf their business-card,witch I got from there,so Ican correct if I´m wrong here.

Favorite Dish: That steak (maybe called steak Portugalia or similar) was the best one.My husband liked it also.Second time he took a steak with mustard-sauce,and said it was good also.
Many restaurants didn´t have fillet-steaks,witch was strange to a Finn.At our restaurants allmost all are filet.
Desserts weren´t so great.Nothing wrong, but not at same level as the steaks.
They had beer-sangria on the menu!We didn´t dare to taste, sounds so strange..

Address: Rossio station

Comparison: more expensive than average

Directions: At the left side of Rossio station. They had a huge tearrace,as seen on my photo.

Must thing in Belem - Lisbon
Pasteis de Belem: Must thing in Belem Café Pastéis de Belém Review

You can´t miss hearing about this place! So I don´t need to tell too much.
But what I didn´t know, was that we go to the table, and order there-strange thing for a Finn,we are used to order first and the find a place to sit.The place is HUGE it just didn´t seem to end anywhere! We first thought it was full, but we were wrong.
Like many places at Lisbon,we were disapointment that we couldn´t sit out!!Strange!
They had lots of other things sold too, which we didn´t expect. We were sorry to go and eat something salty first yo poor cafe at museum, when we could have eaten something salty here too!If we ever go back,I must remember that.

Favorite Dish: Of course I must say:pasteis de Belem.I think they aren´t so different than elsewhere.Maybe little, and at least, they are very fresh and served warm!I wonder why at any other place.
Actually, when they are cold, they taste a lot like Finnish "vanilijaviineri".(something like vanilla Danish pastry). The shape is only different and much smaller and little dark spots at vanilla-filling are something that our viineri doesn´t have.It made me wonder, where I coul get warm, just bakes vanilijaviineri back home? Why they are allways served cold...

Address: You´ll find it easily at every map

Price: less than US$10

Worst restaurant we´ve been - Lisbon
dos Sentidos: Worst restaurant we´ve been

This restaurant looked nice, and had lots of people in,and white tables, styish place. So we decided to go in.What a mistake! We have never before left allmost everything not eaten! We ordered at steak with garlic-sauce (both of us),and a bottle of wine.We were planning to eat also dessert, but we didn´t after what the food was.
Our steak was most expensive we had had in last week, and we didn´t even think, that it might not be fillet. But it was.I don´t know what part of cow it was,but it was like chewing gum.And it was blood-red,even for my husband who asked "well-done".I didn´t ask well-done,but it was too blody even for me.(and usually only fillet should come bloody-I asked from fine restaurants owner back home). There was also big lard in the centre of steak, and no salad, only little rice, and no sauce-even if it was asteak with garlic-sauce!the meat was so terrible, that we didn´t bother asking about the sauce. We were so hungry that we ate the rice-nothing else.We tried to chew the meat, but couldn´t.Ques what happened then with that bottle of wine :D It was only good thing there. But after not eating,we were little buzzed when leaving.Maybe it was good thing-we had so big laugh about that terrible food.At other tables were also people leaving food.I just saw the web-page of the restaurant,it looks like really fancy place at their page!
We were wondering,if it is something about the culture, maybe locals do like this kind of meat? And so dry, without any sauce.Don´t know. There came another Finnish couple.Luckily they had ordered pasta, not a steak! So we decided not to say anything about our food.

Favorite Dish: House white wine was good-nothing else!!
