LIKE A SOUVENIR TOY

In the old days
I first went to London in August 1973, as a student paying guest. The plane was late: too much fog. The family was late: they didn't receive my telegram. I had to speak my best English, and I discovered the quiet travel by train, like the commuters.
I had found a job in a London public school, but my parents didn't agree. Too sad.
I took lots of slides, and there's a beautiful blue sky above my memories...

The double deck red buses still run through the town, and not only for tourists.

PHILOSOPHY

"... when a man is tired of London, ... he is tired of life."
Dr Samuel Johnson (1709-1784)

I love the parks, the shops, the British museum, the Liberty, Covent Garden, Camden Market... cruising the Thames or the canal from Little Venice to Camden Lock.

But... I don't like the tube! There is a good fantasy story by Neil Gaiman, to re-discover London (underground or not): NEVERWHERE

Britanny Ferries

From Normandy, I can take the ferry and cross the Channel, as a footpassenger.

All along the year groups of tourists are invited to go to London by coach from Portsmouth, for a day (spending two nights on board)

I was told to try the "Chunnel"... I tried... and I love St Pancras International Railway Station, but... I still prefer the ferry.
