TURAS GO TIR NA NOG

Music on the EIRE

a fairy on the cliffs of Moher
I first met IRELAND on the tunes of famous group PLANXTY. Then I met Irish people at the Interceltic Festival in LORIENT, Brittany, France (each year, beginning of August) and started learning songs, dances, Irish language... brought my pupils into the celtic dream, for st Patrick's event (1996 & 1998) .Parents wanted to join the party as well...
and created a franco-Irish association in the town of St-Lô, Normandy (where Nobel Prize writer Samuel BECKETT spent a few months in the "capital of ruins" helping the staff of the Irish Red Cross Hospital, 1945/46)
no school on St-Pat's Day

ST-PATRICK's DAY in GALWAY CITY, March 17

How enjoyable and comforting it is to see people marching , playing music or dancing, cheering, on that very special national day:
no tanks, no war machines, no soldiers: thanks a million to St-Pat!

the story says that the whole thing started in America (many left Ireland going west for better lives) .
Now I remember once landing in Rosslare harbour early in the morning, and watching St-Patrick's parades in each town along our road to Galway...
singing on Sunday morning

when you may feel at home in a pub

Don't know why Ireland has become so attractive to me. Do not ask me.
Just let me sing if we meet.

Hi Jacqueline. Very interesting to read of your Franco-Irish association. I've heard there are lots of similarities between Irish and Brittany music. Did you pass through Kilkenny (my home) on your way to Galway?

Hi, Jacqueline! I learned from your page that S-Patrick Day is celebrating not only in Russia but even in Ireland! Oh, those Irishmen and Irishwomen...
