MON PARIS: never stop walking

by jakiline - last update: Jul 12, 2006

first step

Place des Vosges
20 years ago it was not allowed to sit on the grass: now you can easily go and lay on the grass, children love it!

On the picture you can see Victor Hugo's house (1802-1885) in the background: it's a museum, and later you may pay a visit to his second house on the island of Guernsey museum.guernsey when he lived there in exile for 15 years (1855-1870)...
a lonely statue by the Canal St-Martin

second step

It is a peaceful walk from Place de la Bastille towards River Seine along the Canal st Martin (left side) : there are gardens, a restaurant, boats that take you for a sailing on the canal...
You may have a look at the private boats there: it is Paris Harbour

third step

From Pont de Sully you can see the towers of Notre Dame: do not hesitate to walk further then, along River Seine... to the heart of Paris
River Seine

I like rugby as well, but Russia haven't any good team - no football, nor rugby... I prefer tennis and dream to visit Paris during Roland Garros days... Ntanks for your tips sharing, Jacqueline!

3 weeks ago I heard two young ladies singing opera arias under the arches at the Place des Vosges (see my Paris page). I've never sailed on the canal St Martin, but cycled along it. Don't worry, you can wear jeans to the Opera Bastille, no one will mind.
