My Landmarks

by jakiline - last update: Aug 27, 2008

Holidays in South France

viewing Carcassonne from the remparts
Tracking my ancestors lead me to Carcassonne.... last July.

I spent a wonderful day visiting the castle, shopping, having nice fresh drinks here and there, walking around the medieval city: a very touristic place!
the "hic sic" postcard

Touring MEDIEVAL NORMANDY

The countryside in the inner part of Normandy (Orne, in the neighborhood of Sarthe or Maine) is very beautiful.

The city of SEES is worth a visit: mediaeval town, with a cathedral much similar to the one in Bayeux. Should go back there and around to take some pics. DOMFRONT also offers a nice landscape, from up a hill, and there's a medieval fair in the summer... AND SNOW IN WINTER

MEDIEVAL BAYEUX : apart the beautiful embroidery (UNESCO patrimony) it is worth seeing the mediaeval architecture of the cathedral and walking around in town. In the summer the tourist office provides walks with guides

FETES MEDEVALES

SUMMER medieval event in BAYEUX at the first weekend of July...

APRIL: the start of the tourist season. The streets of Bayeux are busy, schoolchildren babbling in English across the market place...
see my bayeux pages for more details
at Place des Vosges

Paris

"Oh the summertime is coming...."

I still go occasionnally to PARIS:
on the first SUNDAY of each month NATIONAL MUSEUMS offer FREE entrance...

and cultural life is all around, open your eyes and ears...
At the PLACE DES VOSGES, there's an excellent chord (violins, cello) orchestra playing each weekend afternoon, and they sell their CDs which are very good (only available from the spot)

life is a journey

Ivory Coast (see page): 8 years childhood
Casablanca, Marocco: 3 years (primary school)
Languedoc-Roussillon, South of France
Chambéry, Bourg-St-Maurice, in Savoy (the Alps)
Cannes, Côte d'Azur (see page)
Metzkausen, near Düsseldorf, Germany
Paris: student's life
Granville, first step in Normandy, not far from the "baie du Mont-
Saint-Michel"
and now
BAYEUX, 10 km far from the coast

Jacqueline, Have a very Happy New Year. You don't need to travel; you live in the perfect place. I like the moulin better in summer when there are flowers!
