London Off The Beaten Path

Off The Beaten Path: Bodicea on the embankment
  • Tip Rating:

  • This statue is in remembrance of the warrior queen Bodicea. It stands along the Victoria Embankment near to the Houses of parliament. You could miss this if you don't keep your eyes open, as it's not in a very prominent position.

Did you know that Bodicea had one of her breasts cut, off so that she could use her bow and arrow properly? I don't care how often my t1ts get in the way of things, like seat belts in cars etc, there is no way that I would have one them chopped off by choice!

Off The Beaten Path: The BBC radio studios
  • Tip Rating:

  • Yep, this is the BBC radio studios, where all of your radio stations like 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are broadcast from; well, they used to be, now a lot of them are done from Birmingham, it stops the northerners whinging all the time I suppose.
I don't think the studios are very impressive though, considering all of the money that the BBC robs off of all of us each year myself, what do you think?

I love listening to bbc radio five live for the phone-ins, prime ministers question time on a Wednesday lunch time and especially the show Drive time at 4 pm. I also love bbc radio 4 for the plays, question time and answers on a saturday lunch time, and the great programme 'Sorry I haven't a clue', I just love Barry Cryer, hearing him just laughing makes me laugh loads too!

  • We went in the British Transport Museum, to see what they had in there; it was ok, but nothing there that really took my fancy. Anyway, when we came back outside, I spotted this.
So I just couldn't resist taking a photo of these old fogies sat underneath the 'Museum' sign, it seemed rather apt don't you think. They are definitely 'off the beaten path' in my estimation! hahaha

I just had a fun trip around London thanks to you Els. Great pictures but what I really loved are your stories. Some of your expressions had me laughing out loud such as "shag" and "snog".

That is a great photograph of you at the Marylebone.
