London, so good they should have named it twice!

London is a wonderful capital city!

The London Eye at night, 2007

London is exciting, beautiful, old, new and so cosmopolitan. It was Dr Samuel Johnson who said "When you are tired of London, you are tired of life!" and I quite agree with him, or I would do, but he's been dead a long time.

I used to go to London quite often; I love shopping in the West end. Mostly, these days, we usually drive through, but even then, there is still lots to see. I love the old, historical places like,St Paul's cathedral, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, The Old Bailey (no, I've never been in there!) and The Houses of Parliament. My one particular love is Canary Wharf, and I am rather partial to the old war memorials too .

London is so different around each and every corner....At one end of Oxford Street, you have beautiful Marble Arch, at the other you have Centre point and in the middle...WOW! Maylebone station, Baker street, made famous with Sherlock Holmes, Harley street, Piccadilly circus, Oxford circus, Regent street, The play houses, The Trocaderro, Whitehall and the whole of Westminster,
Leicester square, Eros, Soho and China town... the list is endless. A short walk and you're at Trafalgar square, St James's park, etc, etc. You could never get bored, you could never see it all in one day, that's for sure.

Pros:"24 hours a day, always something exciting to see."
Cons:"Too many criminals and not-so-nice parts."
In A Nutshell:"I love London just the way it is."

I just had a fun trip around London thanks to you Els. Great pictures but what I really loved are your stories. Some of your expressions had me laughing out loud such as "shag" and "snog".
