First of all - thanks Dad for the information! I didn't think there was too much to see in Vancouver since I have been there loads of times and haven't really seen it with a tourist's eyes. Good old Dad came up with loads of information to add to this page and I will hopefully have some photos to show in December when we return from our trip. Dad says: Vancouver is: at the head of the deep water navigation channel on the Columbia River! the oldest city in the state! (Founded in 1824 by Hudson's Bay Company as FORT VANCOUVER! During the 1860's, Vancouver prospered from the gold rushes to eastern Washington and Idaho. Kaiser Shipyard built 100 vessels for WWII here. This is a view of the old army barracks near Fort Vancouver from Officer's Row. |

thecatsmeow Thu Oct 5, 2006 04:15 UTC Yummm I love it when the Walla Walla sweets are in season! Burgerville is a great fast food joint. Perhaps you should come back and see Vancouver again for it has grown. Hello from Washougal. Joyce | glabah Tue Dec 9, 2003 20:26 UTC Each Burgerville is a little different. The one at the convention center in Portland, for example, has Trailblazer memorabilia. Many also have jukeboxes of some sort. | stuwhite Sun Nov 2, 2003 13:06 UTC Walla Walla Sweet Onions are seasonal and that season is way too short for the great onions | janchan Mon Mar 25, 2002 11:12 UTC :) lovely family photos !! :)) |
