| A lovely autumn day in Haarlem. |
Haarlem is an easy train journey from Amsterdam - it takes approximately 15 minutes. It is a world away from all the hussle and buzz of the big city. It is a peaceful haven with many lovely shops and nice areas to walk around in.
My main reason for going to Haarlem was to see the Grote Kerk. I had seen a painting by Saenradam in the National Museum of Glasgow and it has always fascinated me. I was amazed at how huge the church appeared and wanted to see if it really was that big.
When we arrived, though, we found many other distractions. There is a nice shopping area and a very pretty waterway to walk along. |
