Dubrovnik is probably one of the best known and most photographed cities in Croatia. Although badly damaged during the war, it seems to have been completely restored - the only obvious difference being the new tiled roofs.
As it is fairly compact, a full day should be enough to see the town and walk around the walls. If you want to visit Lokrum or other islands in the area, this would be a good place to base yourself.
We went on an organised tour through Concorde Travel (although other travel agents can arrange this) which was a little disappointing. It was supposed to be a half day trip, which to me is 4 hours, but in the end, we only had an hour in the city itself. Our guide was pleasant and explained a lot of the history but he was also rather soft spoken and we had to choose between looking and listening most of the time.
I would recommend getting a good guidebook and go around the city on your own.
- In a nutshell:Very pretty and historic place.

While walking around the walls of the city, we spotted this restaurant and thought it would be nice to try it. Only... more travel advice
