"Lokrum Island" Otok Lokrum by oneonta_ni

Otok Lokrum Travel Guide: 24 reviews and 76 photos

The island of Lokrum is a nature reserve and is located near Dubrovnik. There is a regular ferry service and the journey takes around 15 minutes.

The island has several paths to follow and lead to various points of interest. There is a botanical gardens, a restaurant, a bar and a couple of beaches (one is an FKK). There is also a small 'lake' (really more of an inlet of the sea) that is popular to swim in as it is quite shallow.

Roaming around the island are peacocks, peahens and wee peachicks. They don't seem to be afraid of visitors - human or feline.

We had lunch in the restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious and not too expensive, considering it is the only restaurant on the island.

We could have walked around quite a bit but chose to lay in the shade and swim in the sea instead. One note - the sea is quite deep around the edges of the island. I am not a very strong swimmer and had to hold on to the steps into the sea to avoid being knocked against the rocks. However, many people were swimming and enjoying it.

There is no accommodation on the island.
