We were in Cambridge for a long weekend because my husband wanted me to see the city. He knows how much I like interesting architecture and historic places so he knew I would enjoy it. He wasn't wrong - I really enjoyed our few days there.
What I thought I would enjoy the most was the beautiful college buildings but in the end, I have to say it was the punting that was most fun to watch! Out near the back of the colleges - in the area known as 'the Backs' - you can watch these long narrow boats guided by professionals and beginners work their way up and down the river. On a sunny Sunday, it is even better because there are more beginners to get in the way of the experienced guides - great entertainment! |
