Tower at the Stratosphere

First Visit

We first visited Las Vegas on day 14/15 of our Route 66 Road Trip.We drove there from the Grand Canyon which was a bit of a trek ,but we broke the journey with a few stops .One being at the Hoover Dam well worth a visit. We stayed at the Statosphere Tower which is a great Hotel. However as a first time visitor being positioned at the far end of the Strip it was a bit remote. We never ventured to the top ,I must admit I was surprised as residents you still had to pay .

Fremont Street

As we were at the top end of the strip it is not so far to Fremont Street .This is a fully covered area now that houses some of the original Casinos of the early Las Vegas days .The canopy contains a spectacular sound and light show which is projected at intervals every evening. The casinos have low stake games and slot machines ,however I still managed to lose as much money ,it just took a bit longer.

Second visit

Our second visit to Vegas was in 2005 and we stayed at Caesers Palace for 5 days.Being more in the centre of things was a definate plus.Caesers is a great Hotel with so much to see and do ,you don't really have to go anywhere else.
