Fishermans Wharf | Fishermans Wharf with Alcatraz in the distance |
This was the last stop on our journey across the states using route 66 from Chicago ,then the Pacific coast highway .We chose to stay at a motel which was very close to Fishermans Wharf .As we were only in San Francisco for 2 days we hoped to be able to take a ferry from here to Alcatraz. We were disappointed as all trips were booked solid so try to book in advance .However this part of San Francisco is great if you like sea food because every other stall sells it.There are also great views of the harbour, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge . |
| | Famous Cable Cars The terminus for the Powell and Hyde street cable car service is right on Fishermans Wharf .The journey is a real treat with people hanging on and the driver manhandling the controls. Also as the streets of San Francisco are like a roller coaster the are some pretty hairy moments. |
| Be sure to get my best side |
| | Fishermans Wharf Residents Take time to visit the sealions adjacent to Pier 39 at Fishermans wharf .Thay have adopted this pier and nobody is gonna move them. They just lounge around and make a load of barking noises ,don't miss them |
